Applications are invited for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions in Azione Verde University, Nigeria.

 

 

1.     BURSAR

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The bursar is the chief financial officer of the university and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the daily financial affairs/ administration, budgeting and account control of the university. The key responsibilities of the Bursar shall include, among others:

a)     Providing financial advice to the Vice-Chancellor and management

b)    Ensuring proper documentation , accountability and management of university funds

c)     Preparing annual budgets and financial statement

d)    Implementing ICT-based accounting systems

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES OF THE CANDIDATES, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

a)     Applicants must be in good health, have high moral standard, be transparent and be able to discharge their duties effectively.

b)     Must possess a high level of competence in ICT/Software and sound financial judgment.

c)     Must be a graduate from a recognized university or polytechnic with good degree (B.Sc or HND) in Accounting, finance or any relevant discipline, plus ICAN,ANAN, ACCA, ACMA certification.

d)    Have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the university.

e)     Possess excellent physical and mental health (Certificate of medical fitness obtained from a government hospital must be attached).

f)     Must have a minimum of 10 years cognate experience with at least 3 years as Deputy Bursar in University or allied institutions in Nigeria.

 

TENURE OF OFFICE AND TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The Bursar shall hold office for a single term of 5 years and shall not be older than 60 years of age by the time of this advertisement. The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Bursar in Nigeria tertiary institutions and may be determined from time to time by the Board of Trustees.

 

2.     UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The university librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of   the university library and the coordination of library services in the university and its faculties, departments and other teaching and research units. By virtue of his/her position, the university librarian also advises the Vice–Chancellor on budget allocation for books, journals and other library resources. Other duties of the university librarian shall include:

i) Advancement of the teaching, learning and research mission of the university by ensuring that quality resources and learning spaces are available to staff and students to support their academic activities at all times.

ii)    Develop policies for effective and efficient use of the university library.

iii)  Attract grant or learning resources through external sources.

iv)   Develop, motivate, mentor and evaluate all library staff in line with their professional roles and university mission and vision.

v)    Develop a vision to ensure that the university is prepared to remain competitive in evolving global trends in higher education and skill development.

vi)   Participate effectively in ensuring that the university programmes in library and information science are of high quality and effectively delivered.

vii) Be involved in the university’s scholarly activities, developing and maintaining relationships with staff and students at all levels, the research community and be involved in contributing to the scholarly activities of the university.

viii)  Participate in the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment in the library

ix)     Perform any other responsibilities for the development of the university and as may be assigned by the Vice–Chancellor.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES OF THE CANDIDATES, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

The candidates to this post must:

a)     Possess good managerial skills and competencies including a clear understanding of the nature and dynamics of the intricacies in deploying information technologies as tools for the management of information collection in line with global best practices in contemporary university libraries.

b)    Possess sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publication in reputable peer reviewed journals both local and international.

c)     Demonstrate experience with budgeting, financial management and resource allocation.

d)    Have evidence of scholarly publications related to library information science in reputable journals and books.

e)     Be a member of Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), Nigeria Library Association (NLA) etc.

f)     Be highly computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable in the running of a complex and modern university library.

g)    Possess a Ph.D in Library Science or Library and Information Science with a minimum of 10 years cognate experience in university library and must have spent 3 years as a deputy librarian or its equivalent in the university system or any other tertiary institution.

Professor:

Candidates must possess a doctorate degree in any of the areas of specialization where a vacancy exists plus a minimum of twelve (12) years post-qualification experience in teaching and research in a university; demonstrate ability to initiate, develop and supervise research; have capacity for academic leadership; and have a good record of scholarly publication with a web presence and registration with relevant professional bodies, where necessary. The Candidate must also be ICT Compliant.

 

 Reader:

Candidates must possess a doctorate degree in any of the areas of specialization where vacancy exists plus a minimum of ten (10) years post-qualification experience in teaching and research in a university or other tertiary institutions, demonstrate ability to initiate, develop and supervise research; have capacity for academic leadership; and have a good record of scholarly publication with web presence and registration with relevant professional bodies, where necessary. Senior Lecturer:

Candidates must possess a doctorate degree in any of the areas of specialization where a vacancy exists plus a minimum of six (6) years of teaching and research in a university. Industrial experience as well as scholarly publications in reputable journal. Candidates must be ICT Compliant

Candidates must possess a doctorate degree in any of the areas of specialization where a vacancy exists plus three (3) years cognate experience as a Lecturer II as well as scholarly publications in reputable journals. Candidates must be ICT Compliant

Applicants for i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, vii, viii & ix must possess an HND or bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution. He/She must be computer literate and a registered member of relevant professional bodies where necessary, plus at least two (2) years post- qualification experience.

 

Applicants for x, xi, xii, xiii, xiv, xv, xvi, xvii, xviii, xix, & xx m8ust possess NCE or ND or Diploma or its equivalent in relevant field from a recognized institution.  Evidence of Proficiency in the use of computer is necessary.

 

Applicants for xxi, xxii, xxiii, xiv and xv must have a minimum of five credits in SSCE/WASSCE/NECO/GCE including English and Mathematics. He/ She must possess proficiency certificate in computer operation.
